Purp, why does it need to exist?

Assuming you've ever seeked the help of dating apps, I'm sure you've heard of an app called "Tinder" or "Bumble" at some point. We're all aware of the dangers of such dating apps and their pros and cons, but the main thing about that app is that It's designed for adults.

Now imagine taking that nightmare of a app genre, and doing what? MAKING ONE DESIGNED FOR MINORS! (Disclaimer: I am a minor.)

When you read that sentence even for one second, you immediately know that it's a horrible ******** idea. Why in the world does their need to be a tinder-like app made for minors ranging from 13-17?

Well, on the surface it makes sense. 13-17 is about the age bracket where people want their first girlfriend but simply just don't know where to begin. And I think that it's a load of garbage to make an app as vulnerable as the subject of today's article, Purp.

Purp, the mobile app released on Google Play initially on Jul 11, 2020, with iOS getting it a year later in 2021, has been an absolute breeding ground for pedophiles. My friend and I were messaging, until we thought it would be funny to download the app, and holy **** is that app just downright disgusting. It's pretty clear the app is very loosely moderated (if even moderated at all?), the first minute of the app was just teenage girls showing their butt on camera (almost like Tiktok y'know). Not even that, Every other profile I ended up coming across either a stoner or a wannabe hoe, it's genuinely insane. And obviously the devs of the app simply don't care if there's literal MINORS portraying themselves on their app like this.

And as I stated earlier, it's an absolute breeding ground for pedophiles. It's common to see predators try and lure teenagers off the app in order to do some unspeakable, illegal things. So what's todays message? It's simple, don't promote disgusting apps like these, and don't even interact with these apps. If you're a minor, you're at risk of running into pedophiles and if you're an adult? Why in the world are you on an app like this.
